WAEC 2012 RESULT,MASS FALIURE RECORDED AS LESS THAN 30% PASSED COMPULSORY SUBJECTS

The statistics of the 2012/2013
West African Senior school
Leaving certificate examination
(WASSCE) conducted in April/may shows that majority of the
candidates who sat for the
examination would be
experiencing shortfalls in major
subjects written in the examination.
In a breakdown of the report by
the Zonal Co-ordinator of WAEC Mr Alozie
N.U it was revealed that A total
of 324,998 candidates
registered for the examination
while 310,077
candidates made up of
168,835 male and 141,242
female candidates sat for the
examination.
The results of 51,876
candidates, representing 16.
73% are being withheld based
on various reports of
examination malpractices.
Statistics shows that 250,487
candidates representing 80.
78% have two credits and
above while 217,161 candidates 70.
03%, have three credits and
above and 180,480
candidates 58.20% have four
credits and above.
Furthermore, 141,167
candidates (45. 52%), obtained
five credits and above out of which
99,750 candidates (32. 16%)
obtained six credits and above.
On the basis of University
admission qualifications passed result, Mr
Alozie disclosed that
A total of 133,507 candidates meaning
(43. 06%) obtained credit and
above in English, while 151,569
candidates (48. 88%) obtained
credit and above grades in
Mathematics. About 62,295
candidates meaning 20.
04% obtained credits in
English language, Mathematics
and three other
subjects.
A total number of 33 blind
candidates sat for the examination out of which 4
candidates representing 12.12%, obtained credits in five
subjects, including English
Language. Blind candidates are always
exempted from taking
mathematics and science
practicals in WASSCE .
Candidates who sat for the
examination will be able to
check the details of their
performance with their scratch
cards on WAEC website at www.waecdirect.org
as soon it is officially released by
Mr Alozie N.U,
Zonal Coordinator.
